Flat Plate Pellet Mills are characterized by the fact that the die through which the raw material is forced is flat like a dinner plate. It is usually turned by a set of gears called a ring and pinion gear that would ordinarily be seen in the differential rear end of an automobile. However in some cases like the one on the right, the rollers are driven and the die is stationary. It is purely opinion as to whether the driven die or the driven roller variety is best. I like the driven roller models better myself.
The ATFP200T is an unpowered pellet mill with a 200 mm diameter die, the holes in the die can be pretty much whatever size you would like. It is designed to be powered by a 550 rpm PTO from a tractor. It is not designed to be run by a motor or engine. It is rated at 220 to 440 lbs per hour of production depending on the type of material you want to pelletize. Wood is much more difficult to pelletize than grasses or grains and you should probably not use this mill to make wood pellets, it doesn't have enough torque. To make wood pellets please check out my wood pellet mill page.
This mill will require a tractor with at least 12 to 15 HP available at the PTO. This mill comes complete with the Jack Shaft but you will have to construct your own 3 point hitch and likely as not the PTO U joint will need a different spline coupling due to the difference between US and Asian tractors. This mill weighs 330 Lbs and its dimensions are 28 X 21 X 42 inches. Spare Die is $105 Spare Roller assy is also $105. Figure on changing the die and roller every 200 hours of normal operation, but rocks, bolts etc. can damage them beyond use, so I recommend you keep a set of spares.

The ATFP200E is an electrically powered pellet mill with a 200 mm diameter die, the holes in the die can be pretty much whatever size you would like. It is designed to be powered by a 1500 to 1700 rpm electrical motor. If I supply the motor it will be a 3 phase motor but you can decide what voltage you want. It is rated at 220 to 440 lbs per hour of production depending on the type of material you want to pelletize. Wood is much more difficult to pelletize than grasses or grains. If you want to pelletize wood, check out my wood pellet mill page.
This mill will require an electrical motor with a continuous power rating of 7.5KW or more. It weighs 520Lbs and its dimensions are 39 X 18 X 43 inches.Spare Die is $105 Spare Roller assy is also $105. Figure on changing the die and roller every 2000 hours of normal operation, but rocks, bolts etc. can damage them beyond use, so I recommend you keep a set of spares.

You can also order this model pellet mill as the ATFP200E-Bare. It doesn't come with the motor or electrical control box. The dimensions stay the same at 39 X 18 X 43 inches. The weight is reduced to 400 LBS.

The ATFP200D is a Diesel Engine powered pellet mill with a 200 mm diameter die, the holes in the die can be pretty much whatever size you would like. It is designed to be powered by a variable rpm Diesel Engine rated at 15HP. If I supply the engine it will be a Chang-Chai China Diesel. They are the least expensive I have found and require regular attention. This type of engine is evaporatively cooled. There is no radiator. It just heats up to 212 degrees and starts blowing off steam. You have to keep an eye on the coolant level as it naturally evaporates away. These engines are one lung diesels and they shake rattle and roll. It is not uncommon for them to shake loose a nut or bolt here or there, so when you are filling the water or diesel you need to check the oil level, and the tightness of all exposed nuts and bolts. It burns about a quart of diesel per hour. It is hand started with a big crank very reminicent of old model A Fords. Electric Start is available in the model ATFP200DE. If you don't know how to turn a wrench you should probably find an alternative power source. But if you know your way around a toolbox you won't find a better value in diesel power. This mill is rated at 220 to 440 lbs per hour of production depending on the type of material you want to pelletize. Wood is much more difficult to pelletize than grasses or grains. It weighs 551Lbs and its dimensions are 47 x 22 x 43 inches. Spare Die is $105 Spare Roller assy is also $105. Figure on changing the die and roller every 160 hours of operation for wood pellets, but rocks, bolts etc. can damage them beyond use, so I recommend you keep a set of spares.

The ATFP200DE pellet mill is identical in every way except it has an electric starter and a geared flywheel and the electrical wiring to allow you to hook up a 12 V Car Battery. This makes it much easier to start your pellet mill. It is possible to hand start these small diesels by hand, but you've got to have a good bit of balast in your britches and more than average strength. I highly recommend you spend the extra cash and get the electric start option. Especially if you ever have to start the diesel at sub freezing temperatures. It can be brutal. It does not come with the pictured battery due to shipping restrictions. It's dimentions are 47 X 22 X43 inches and it weighs 621 lbs. It is designed for the back yard or garage pellet maker. It even looks good sitting around in the garage when it isn't needed. Spare Die is $105 Spare Roller assy is also $105. Figure on changing the die and roller every 160 hours of operation for wood pellets, but rocks, bolts etc. can damage them beyond use, so I recommend you keep a set of spares.

The line of mills with a 350mm die is likely the best bang for your buck. The sales figures confirm it. Roughly 2/3 of my sales are for one of the 350mm mills. It is the smallest mill that can be ordered with a "heavy duty" option. It can be considered for a small commercial operation. The ATFP350T is an unpowered pellet mill with a 350mm die. The holes in the die can be pretty much whatever size you would like. It is designed to be powered by a 550 rpm PTO from a tractor. It is not designed to be run by a motor or engine. The "heavy duty" or quasi-commercial version of this mill comes with a higher grade of
hardened steel used in it's tapered rollers.
The tapered rollers produce less friction as they roll over the die and thus last longer. The HD tapered rollers price is $665.00 and the HD die is $385.00. The hypoid gears which are not so easily seen are from Isuzu. They are considered to be superior to normal grade ring and pinion gears.Just looking at ithis mill you can tell it is built much more stoutly than the standard version. If you are planning on starting a small commercial pelleting operation, I recommend you start with this heavy duty option. It is available in all versions of the 350 series mills. the shown unit is designed to be powered with the PTO of a rather large tractor and comes with the Jack Shaft.

This is a new type of mill and it is undergoing testing right now. I'll post the price and specifications when it is ready for sale. Stay tuned, when you see a price listed here it will be time to start selling these great new style of mills.
Sorry I don't have a good photograph of this pellet mill yet. For convenience I have included a photograph of the ATFP450 mill just so you have an idea what it will look like. The pictured mill shows a lift conveyor and a conditioner on top of the framework to feed the pellet mill. But unless you order them, they won't be there. It is a 3 roller mill with a 400 mm flat plate die. It is not available as a PTO driven pellet mill. But it is available as an electic, diesel or no motor configuration. It is also available with a Heavy Duty model with Taperd Rollers and High durability Hypoid Gear. I will post the prices and specifications when they are available.
The ATFP450 is an entry level commercial pellet mill. It weighs 1850 lbs and is available without a motor, with a 3 phase electric motor and with a Diesel Engine. Because it is most often used in a commercial operation it is often ordered with a feed conveyor and a steam conditioner. Those are the items you see sitting on top of the mill. It is capable of producing up to 1425 lbs per hour of wood pellets. But this number is vague. The kind of material you are pelleting will have a huge impact on actual production. It requires a 60 hp diesel engine or a 45KW electric motor.

This is our newest improvement to the flat plate mills we build. It uses an integrated gear motor. It isn't ready for sale yet, we are still field testing it. But stay tuned, when a price and specifications show up here feel free to order one.
This is the latest and largest rendition of our entries into the flat plate pellet mill sector. It is still going through field testing and is not ready for sale yet. Once we are satisfied that it meets specifications I will post them and a price here. Only then can I fulfill an order for this mill.
