400 MM diameter die ring style Wood Pellet Mill without motor.
400 MM diameter die ring style Wood Pellet Mill without motor.

This is the ATRD400E pellet mill. This one does not have a motor mounted on it yet as you can see.

This Ring Die Pellet Mill has a transmission instead of a belt drive. I will build it to order for you.  This mill is a good choice for a medium to large commercial pellet line. It is also a good bet if you have an existing mill that is showing its age.  This mill doesn’t use belts for driving  it. Thus you must be very diligent about what materials you put into it. The transmission is quite expensive. It can be easily damaged by foreign objects  like nuts bolts and rocks that might suddenly jam the extruder. Like all the mills I sell it has a shear pin to save the mill, but they don’t always work correctly. A good commercial operator will have conditioned his feedstock to preclude that possibility.

There is a small pipe on the top called a conditioner which is included with this mill and all of my ring die pellet mills for that matter.  It allows you to add heat, moisture or binding agents if you need them.

This mill is rated at 1500 KG (3300 Lbs) per hour for softwood  pellets. But that number should be taken with a grain of salt. Your actual production will depend on the type of material being processed. Grasses and grains are the easiest, wood is harder, and hardwoods are the worst to make into pellets. Your skill in managing particle consistency, and moisture control are the biggest factor in how much production you will achieve.

This mill uses only 90 KW (120 HP) of 3 phase electric power which makes it very economical to use in this standard configuration. If you are making hardwood pellets you might consider ordering it with an even beefier motor size. The small motor driving the conditioner uses 2.2 KW per hour of electricity. There is also a third motor pushing the raw material into the mill. It uses .55 kw of power. I recommend that you use this mill with a VFD (variable frequency drive) so that you can change the speed of the motors to peak your production. Getting exactly the right speed can make a gigantic difference in the production you achieve with any pellet mill. You are welcome to buy this mill with or without a motor. This mill weighs 2000 KG (4400 LBS ) with the motor and 1700 KG (3750 lbs) without the motor. Dimensions are 205*175*220 CM (81 X 70 X 87 Inches). The Die is 400 mm (15.7 inches) in diameter as the model number indicates.

You should plan on changing the expendable die and roller every 21 days of operation assuming an 8 hour workday in a worst case situation where your product is dirty or sandy, best case scenario is if you are using grains to make animal feed in which case 1800 to 2100 hours might be achieved. Spare dies are $1570.00 and spare rollers are $1170.00. Most of the parts that might ever go bad on this machine should be easily sourced at a local parts supply house or industrial hardware store. If you are not a good wrench, you should either plan on learning to become one, or have one on your payroll. This is good industrial grade machinery but like all machinery it requires regular maintenance.
