This is the ATRD350E pellet mill with the collection hood removed. It gives you a good idea of what the pellets look like as they are extruded from the die.

This Ring Die Pellet Mil has a transmission instead of a belt drive. I will build it to order for you.  If you want to start a pellet making business, this is a very good choice for where to start, it is also a good choice as a replacement mill if yours is worn out.  This mill doesn’t use belts in the drive train. Thus you must be very diligent about what materials you put into the mill. The transmission is quite expensive. It can be easily damaged by foreign objects  like nuts bolts and rocks that might suddenly jam the extruder. Like all the mills I sell it has a shear pin to save the mill, but they don’t always work in time. A good commercial operator will have conditioned his feed stock to preclude that possibility.

There are a couple tubes on the top called a conditioner which is included with Ring Die Pellet Mill-350-01this mill. It allows you to add heat, moisture or binding agents if you need them. This mill is rated at 1000 KG (2200 Lbs) per hour for softwood  pellets. But that number should be taken with a grain of salt. Your actual production will depend on the type of material being processed. Grasses and grains are the easiest, wood is harder, and hardwoods are the worst to make into pellets. Your skill in managing particle consistency, and moisture control are the biggest factor in how much production you will achieve.

This mill uses only 58 KW (78 HP) of 3 phase electric power which makes it very economical to use. That doesn’t mean it will always use that much. That is simply the maximum load it can endure. The actual useage is always predicated by the load you put on it. Its going to eat a lot of electricity to produce wood pellets, and hardly break a sweat producing feed pellets. The small motor driving the conditioner uses 1.5KW per hour of electricity. There is also a third motor pushing the raw material into the mill. I recommend that you use this mill with a VFD (variable frequency drive) so that you can change the speed of the motors to peak your production. Getting exactly the right speed can make a gigantic difference in the production you achieve with any pellet mill. You are welcome to buy this mill without a motor and supply it yourself. This mill weighs 1300 KG (2866 LBS ) with the motor and 1080 KG (2380 lbs) without the motor. Dimensions are 180*155*158 CM (71 X 61 X 62 Inches). The Die is 350 mm (13.8 inches) in diameter as the model number indicates.

You should figure on changing the expendable die and roller every 1600 to upwards of 2000 hours if you have very clean oily type of feedstock. Spare dies are $1295.00 and spare rollers are $836.00. Most of the parts that might ever go bad on this machine should be easily sourced at a local parts supply house or industrial hardware store. If Controller for 350 Ring die pellet mill-02you are not a good wrench, you should either plan on learning to become one, or have one on your payroll. This is good industrial grade machinery but like all machinery it requires maintenance. As you can see in this photograph it has multiple lubrication hoses hooked up to keep it running a 24×7 schedule.
